Wet Weather Plan
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY – WET WEATHER
CONTINGENCY PLAN
Dear Carnival entrant
Following last year’s wet weather Newton Carnival Team have put together a contingency plan if it is wet or raining on carnival day. Please make sure that you read this document carefully and that the details are passed onto all relevant people and the driver of your vehicle is aware of this plan.
The decision will be made at 07.00am on Saturday morning by ourselves and the police. I would ask all of you to call Dexter Bullock on 07881562354 from 7.15am on the morning to find out if the wet weather plan is taking place.
Fun Fair
Prior to the arrival of the Fun Fair NCT will make an assessment as to the suitability of the grounds for the suitability of the ground, for the movement of vehicles. If it is deemed too wet or the long range weather forecast indicates wet weather on or around carnival day the Fair will be situated in the car park, with caravans and lorries being excluded from the grounds. Unfortunately will greatly reduce the amount of equipment being allowed on site.
If the ground in the park is very wet vehicles can not drive into the park. They are highly likely to get stuck and this could ruin everyone’s day (including the park grounds!). Even if it is not raining on the day, the ground could still be too wet to allow vehicles on, so please ensure you call the number for the event update.
Trades and Crafts
On arrival please park up on Charnwood Crescent and report to the PA unit where a member of the carnival team will assist you with the collection of goods and equipment from your vehicle.
Walkers
All walking entries should proceed to the Parish Grounds as usual. Any vehicles not in the procession but carrying equipment, will have to be parked on Charnwood Crescent were assistance will be provided to convey all equipment onto the show ground. Vehicles will not be allowed onto the grounds itself.
Vehicles
The plan is that all vehicles taking part in the procession commence from Blackwell Hotel as usual continuing along the exact route until it reaches Charnwood Crescent. All vehicles will then continue around the Newton Green for disembarking.
Bands
All bands taking part in the carnival procession will be allowed onto the field via ENTRANCE 2. They will be escorted into the main arena for the opening ceremonies.
Cancellation
Due to the scale of this event, NCT will take every step to ensure the carnival goes ahead. Should the event be cancelled all entrants, exhibitors and entertainers will be notified by the previous Saturday. If you have not heard from us by Sunday lunch time the event will take place as planned but the above contingency plan will be in place should the weather take a turn for the worst.
If you have any questions about this or any other part of the day then please call 01773 779237 for more information However, please remember to call 07881562354 on the morning of the carnival to find out if vehicles are allowed to enter the Parish Grounds or if they need to park up on Charnwood Crescent.
Let’s hope for good weather in the lead up to and on carnival day and that none of the above will have to be actioned.
Whatever the weather Newton Carnival will be a fantastic day!
Good Luck!
Kindest Regards
